At Alena Brow Art we believe that every face has its own understated allure. Semi‑permanent lip makeup—whether lip blush, ombré lips or a subtle tint—isn’t meant to replace your favourite lipstick; instead, it gently enhances your natural colour and shape. Using premium pigments and meticulous technique, we create a refined, expensive‑looking result that elevates your features without looking overdone.
What to Expect in the First Week
First 24 hours. Immediately after the procedure your lips will appear brighter and slightly swollen. This is normal. Over the coming days the colour will soften to a natural tone. In the first 3–5 days apply only a thin layer of a vitamin A & D healing ointment. The ointment should be applied lightly so your lips can breathe; it keeps the area supple while the skin begins to regenerate. Do not use cosmetic brand balms or petroleum‑based products during this period.
Day 2. Swelling begins to subside, but your lips may feel tight and dry as a light scab forms. Avoid touching or picking at the scab. Continue to use the vitamin A & D ointment sparingly and keep the area clean.
Days 3–5. The scab will start to flake and peel. You might feel some itchiness and notice patches of lighter colour. This is part of the healing cycle. Resist the temptation to remove any peeling skin; allow it to fall away naturally. Once the visible scab has come off completely—usually by Day 5—you can stop using the healing ointment.
Days 5–7. After the scab has shed, your lips may still feel dry for a few days. The pigment can appear lighter or uneven while deeper layers continue to heal. At this stage you may begin to use gentle, hydrating lip balms or oils from trusted cosmetic brands if desired.
Weeks 2–6: Deeper Healing
Beneath the surface your lips continue to recover for several weeks. The true colour develops gradually and reaches its final tone around week 4–6. A follow‑up session is typically scheduled at the six‑week mark to refine the shape and refresh the pigment if needed. Throughout this period, protect your lips from sun exposure and keep them moisturised.
Understanding the Techniques
- Lip blush. This technique deposits an even wash of colour across the entire lip, subtly defining the border and adding dimension without looking like makeup. The result is soft and natural.
- Ombré lips. Ombré enhances the lips with a gradient effect. It can move from a deeper outline to a lighter centre—or, if you prefer, from a brighter centre that fades gently toward an almost untouched contour. This versatility allows us to customise the look while keeping it refined.
- Tint. The tint method uses sheer, airy pigments to create a barely‑there wash of colour. It’s perfect if you want the most understated result and a quick healing process. In contrast to heavier tattoos, a tint retains a delicate translucence.
Aftercare Guidelines
- Keep the area clean. In the early days, gently cleanse your lips with mild soap and cool water. Avoid licking, stretching or biting your lips.
- Skip heavy cosmetics. Avoid makeup, lipsticks and perfumed balms until the scab has completely peeled off. After visible healing, you may return to your usual products.
- Mind your diet and activities. Refrain from spicy foods, smoking, alcohol, saunas, intense exercise and direct sun exposure during the first week. These factors can aggravate the healing tissue.
- Hands off. Do not pick at flakes or touch your lips unnecessarily. Removing scabs prematurely can lead to patchy colour.
- Plan around filler treatments. If you intend to have lip fillers, discuss timing with both your permanent makeup artist and your cosmetic practitioner. Adequate spacing between treatments ensures optimal results and safe healing.
- Health considerations. Clients prone to cold sores should consult their physician before the procedure; antiviral medication may be recommended. If any unusual swelling or allergic reactions occur, contact your artist immediately.
